Our single vineyard Pinot Noir is hand selected from the Falveys Road Pinot Block. Aged for 10 months in 33% new oak barriques, this is a superb example of Marlborough Pinot Noir. This wine displays an elegant fruit balance, silky tannins, and has a memorable length. Cedar-laced dark forest berries are complimented by nuances of fruitcake, vanilla, and spice. Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir Appellation: Southern Valleys, Marlborough Vineyard: Falveys Estate Vineyard Barrel Aging: 10 months French Oak (33% new)Cheeses: The trick is to not overwhelm the Pinot and try to match flavours. Milder cheeses which are nutty, earthy, and/or mushroomy. Truffle cheeses.Foods: Duck, Lamb, Pheasant, even fatty fish with a sauce that matches the Pinot, like a mushroom or red wine reduction. Roast chicken, pasta, casseroles, beef stew.2009 Falveys Pinot NoirCases Produced: 740Alcohol: 14.5% Brix at Harvest: 24 Residual Sugar: <1 g/l - 84 points Bob Campbell, MW"Silken smooth Pinot Noir in a relatively light style with plum, cherry and aromatic herb flavours. Excellent value at this price." - Bob Campbell, MW "From the heart of Marlborough Country and a certified sustainable vineyard this steals your senses with that French earthy, gardens-at-dawn exotic touch which is fleshed out by fleshy cherry fruit gently warmed by vanilla and spice. Thickly, evenly textured, utterly seamless, a camelhair coat of cohesive components. She's definitely morphed since release, rounding out and blooming." - Glenn Gary Wine Team (NZ)"Translucent ruby colour with a brick-red hue. Lifted aromas of cherry, strawberry, chocolate and subtle oaky spice. Medium-bodied. Good varietal fruit character on the palate, with dark cherries well balanced with chocolate and spice. Velvet texture. Long finish of dark cherry and earthy spice.
