Today we have over 2,000 olive trees gracing the landscape of Omaka Springs Estates. Sounds like a lot of trees, but they only produce about 1,000 litres of oil each year! Consequently our olive oil is only sold within New Zealand, mostly to our local neighbours.

The best olive oils are made from a variety of olives combined into a single pressing. At Omaka Springs we have over 24 varieties of olive trees, such as Frantoio, Barnea, Leccino, and Manzanillo. That is a lot of varieties to keep track of, so we have colour coded them to help!

The olives are harvested in July and are pressed together in one single cold pressing which ensures that only extra virgin olive oil is extracted and blended to produce the distinctive Omaka taste. Our oil is renowned for its delicious fat olive aroma. It is smooth but not greasy on the palate, it has a good balance and a subtle grassy creaminess, fantastic for salads or dipping bread.
The olive oil is then hand bottled and packed at the Estate. The oil is of limited production and is available only in New Zealand, please contact us to find your nearest retailer, purchase online from this website, or visit our cellar door with your recycled container to get the oil straight from the barrel.
